Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs - 2018 Teen Summit

Higher Education

If you want to inspire someone, do in a setting that was designed to do just that. In part, that was the thinking behind The Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs 2018 Team Summit that was held this November in the hallowed halls of UCLA. More than 800 teams from ages 14 to 18 walked the brick-laid quads and paths where so many famous and successful people have been — Marilyn Monroe, Kristen Stewart, Gabrielle Union and Francis Ford Coppola to name a few. The teens were from 21 Boys and Girls Clubs and they came seeking guidance on education and careers.

In our third profile of 10 great charities, we focus on the Los Angeles County Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs. Boys & Girls Clubs have been fostering the dreams of teens for more than 60 years. People such as basketball great Shaquille O Neal, Entertainment Tonight host Mario Lopez and singer/actor Jennifer Lopez are among those this organization has helped along their way.

This year the alliance collaborated with Toyota and a host of sponsors and non-profit partners, to offer an all-day program of panels, breakout sessions, and exhibits at UCLA. The day was focused on Workforce Development and STEAM in order to give students the knowledge they need to thrive, discover opportunities, and have fun! This event ignites a talent pipeline for high-wage, high growth jobs in our communities.

Zynger Events supported the event in myriad ways the largest of which was as event producer and partnered with the Los Angeles Alliance for Boys & Girls Clubs. Zynger Events also supplied an important element to today’s teens – a custom Snapchat filter for the event!

“I was so impressed with how the audience really listened and took so many of the messages to heart,” Ryan says from Zynger Events. “At the end of the day, I felt that many of the speakers, programs and messages resonated. I look forward with a positive heart to see what impact this next generation will have on our world.”
