18 Oct Our “Tenth Anniversary” Charity for October
As promised, to celebrate our 10-year, Zynger Events is going to be selecting 10 charities to support over the next ten months. From our initial email blast and announcement, we received many many suggested charities to support – the response was amazing! Next month, along with our featured non-profit, we also plan on providing a list that will include some of the charities that had been suggested – there are so many great organizations out there, we wish we could support them all!
For October, we actually choose two! The GEANCO Foundation and the Alliance for Housing and Healing! Both organizations are familiar to us and our staff and both great organizations to get to know!
The GEANCO Foundation saves and transforms the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Africa. The Foundation, established in 2005, by Dr. Godwin Onyema and his family organizes programs to improve healthcare and save lives in his homeland. The foundation is run by his son Afam Onyema. Zynger Events partners with GEANCO on their annual Celebrity Supported Hollywood Red Carpet Event; most recently held at the Pacific Design Center (photo below).
The Alliance for Housing and Healing was formed by the merger of two organizations in 2009 – Aid for AIDS: founded in 1983 by a small group of friends to help support others in the community devastated by AIDS; and the Serra Project: founded in 1987 to provide housing for homeless effected by the AIDS Epidemic. The Alliance for Housing and Healing has an annual budget of $8 Million and is the leading provider of housing and directly related support services to people living with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles County. Zynger Events was able to contribute to the foundation at their 2018 Best In Drag Show held at the Orpheum Theater (photo below).
