15 Nov Crikey! We are all Wildlife Warriors!
For our 10-year anniversary, it was our goal to give back as much as we’d received in our amazing decade of being in business. When our founder Ryan Zynger put the word out that each month we’d feature a different charity on our blog and our social media we had no idea what to expect.
We were thrilled with the response! Scroll down to see the list of great charities that have reached out to be part of our initiative. This month we are focusing on Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors.
First of all – how great is that name!? As we learned more, we realized there was a big name behind the name. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors is backed by the Irwin family – the very same family you might have seen on The Crocodile Hunter starring the man himself, Steve Irwin.
His death was a shock to many, but the dedication of his family to keeping Steve’s dreams and legacy alive prevailed, and just last month they launched a new show on Animal Planet called “Crikey! It’s the Irwins.”
Crikey is an Australian exclamation of amazement that Steve Irwin used very often during The Crocodile Hunter, as he discovered a new snake or rare poisonous frog in his explorations. Now, its being put to use by his wife Terri, son Robert and daughter Bindi, as they care for more than 1,200 animals at Australian Zoo and carry on his work for the preservation of wildlife and wild places.
More about Wildlife Warriors
Steve and Terri Irwin started Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors in 2002 as a way to include and involve other caring people to support and protect injured, threatened or endangered wildlife. Through funding, education, research and dedication, Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors are fighting to protect wildlife and wild places around the world for generations to come.
Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors is proud to have nine global conservation projects, three conservation properties, and a loyal following of global donors and supporters. Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors continues to save the precious lives of our wildlife and carry on Steve’s dream: save one, save the species.
