21 Feb Creating Big Change Drop by Drop
Dramatic change doesn’t take place overnight. It builds slowly, drop by drop. Certainly, this is true in the issue of clean water and who has and doesn’t have access to it in our world. When we learned that 5,000 children die each day from drinking unclean water, it was time to jump into the issue feet first, which is just what our team did.
Feet First Events just happens to be the name of the agency we called when one of our corporate clients wanted to create a gathering with purpose. We learned of the San Francisco-based company as we began to do our research. Feet First has a robust roster of unique and impactful Community and Social Responsibility programs. Most important to our client was one called Water Works, a team-building activity that brings water filtration to small villages across the world, in this case, Uganda.
HOW IT WORKS
At the event, we worked with our client to form teams of 5 to 10 people. Each received instructions and all the necessary items to build portable, emergency water filtration devices.
In addition to assembling the device each team created a piece of artwork. The portable devices and the artwork were then sent to Feet First’s charity partner in Africa who matched a family with the donation. Each family in the village received a household unit along with the artwork created during the event. Once a family received a filtration system, they took a picture with the artwork and shared that back to our client and the event participants.
Imagine the pride at receiving that photo in an email with the subject line, “Your Water Filtration Systems Have Been Installed in Uganda!”
According to our friends at Feet First, “It’s one thing to participate in a charitable activity, but what really brings it home is seeing the people whose lives we have touched, which makes the Water Works program a truly life-changing experience.”
We were proud to once again fulfill our mission at Zynger Events for creating positive change in the world whether it’s one event, or one drop, at a time!
