Celebrating 5 Years of Zynger!

Post from Zynger Event Designs’ September 2013 Newsletter:

We’re all grown up over at Zynger Event Designs! This year we are grateful to celebrate five fantastic years of events, award shows, culinary gatherings, nonprofit fundraisers, educational summits and corporate functions. We have run the event production gamut and have worked with some of the best organizations around in unique and incredibly special locations (under the Endevour Space shuttle!!). We owe a big thank you to all the clients, volunteers, partners and committees we have had the pleasure to work with. These last five years have allowed us to flex our event planning muscle in a variety of settings for some truly inspiring organizations.

A Few Words with Ryan Zynger

We decided to check in with Ryan Zynger, the founder and President of Zynger Events Designs on the origin, evolution and future of Zynger event Designs.

Hi Ryan! Congrats on five years! Tell us a little about the beginning of Zynger Event Designs:

“Hi, there! Thanks! I was working at a museum in downtown Los Angeles for 8 years and I decided to work for another organization but it really wasn’t a good fit so I decided to take a risk and leave. I received a referral for a job and basically just got one referral after another and Zynger Event Designs was born. My first client was Tourism Australia and I thought it was a good match because I actually used to live in Australia. “

What types of clients do you typically work with:

“Most of my personal work history is nonprofit and fundraising focused, so it was just a natural fit for me to gravitate toward the nonprofit sector but we also work with a variety of corporations and organizations, like Tourism Australia. It’s important for me to feel good about what I’m doing and that I’m giving back. And I always thought it was so interesting how people would volunteer and give their time to organizations they cared about.  After years of working with nonprofits I have seen how passionate people can be and I really love that.”

Any Key corporate and nonprofit event planning advice:

“I think it’s really important to try and pull on the strengths of people for the strongest event. Especially when working with a committee or group of people in a nonprofit setting, for example. The goal is to have a working committee, not just a committee full of opinions”

What makes LA such an exciting city to plan events:

“LA is an amazing place for event production! There are organizations, foundations and businesses here that you can’t find anywhere else. The spaces and diversity in this city are also unlike anywhere else. Producing an event in Santa Monica or downtown LA, for example, helps define what makes an event unique and special.”

What is your particular area of expertise:

“I think we stand out most when it comes to working with budgets and timelines. We also pride ourselves on our creative development.”

What’s up for Zynger in the next five years:

“I would love to continue to strengthen our relationships with our current clients while establishing new partnerships. I would love to continue to do both corporate and nonprofit events, as well as grow and expand our team. Oh, and give everyone more money!”

Zynger-Signed-Proposal

Over the years, Ryan Zynger has learned a few tricks of the trade.

Here are 5 Zynger tips for a successful event:

  • Always do a run through! No matter what anyone says, we all need to practice before hand.
  • Always have extra booze and back-up ice – thirsty guests are not happy guests.
  • Bring a printer on site for last minute signage and updates.
  • Always have a phone charger or back up battery. A dead iPhone is the opposite of a smart phone.
  • Zip ties, Velcro and duct tape are event production secret weapons! They fix everything.
